Leidy has a degree in International Business from Universidad de Medellín, Medellín, Colombia. For two years she was logistics coordinator for a US-based wire and steel company while at the same time also supporting sales and marketing for its subsidiary. She teaches both Spanish and English, and she also speaks Portuguese.

At Nimba she is the assistant to the CEO.

In her personal life, she is a taekwondo black belt. While in school, she competed both in her University and on the Antioquia regional team. Now she practices taekwondo for discipline rather than as a competitor. She is a volunteer in the Colombian Red Cross and is an active participant in these programs: peace, action and coexistence, fresh air, recreation, and sexual and reproductive health. She is an animal, nature, pizza, taco, and avocado lover.
